The movie starts right before the French Revolution, Austria decides to give Prussia it's own king, they decide on Fredrick, naming him king Fredrick...  Once king he settles the despute with the Junkers, giving them option to have land if they are loyal to him.  Then he goes on to killing his sons gay lover.  But when Austria begins to threaten him he recruits tall people to be in his army.  Then there is a war ending the suffering of the Prussian people for the Austrians win...  It was basically about a newly apointed king and the problems that he caim about during his rule, like his son being gay and wars...
